Our History

From a living room to a lasting fellowship

Trinity Baptist Church was birthed on the 9th of December 2018, following the ordination of Missionary Pastor Peter Joshua Abutu on the 4th of March, 2018 by the leadership of the sending Church, Kabwata Baptist Church, Lusaka Zambia.

On the 3rd of June 2018, about eight persons gathered in Pastor Abutu’s living room for prayer and Bible study, signalling the beginning of the work. During that meeting, the intentions, mission, and vision for the work were shared, and prayers were offered for the church that would be established.

The fellowship continued to meet every Sunday evening until the first Sunday morning worship service was held on the 9th of December 2018 at the Arcade.

In 2022, Trinity Baptist Church became fully autonomous from its sending church. Following its transition to autonomy, the church continued to grow in its life and ministry and subsequently ordained two additional elders to serve alongside the founding pastor in providing spiritual oversight and pastoral leadership to the congregation.

Trinity Baptist Church now worships and operates from a rented facility at No. 4 Juba Street, Suncity Estate, Abuja, FCT, Nigeria.

Our Mission

We exist to glorify God by living all of life in joyful obedience to His Word, proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, and making disciples who grow in holiness and reflect His glory.

To be a people zealous for God’s holiness and glory, seeking to live all of life for the glory and pleasure of God.

Word-Centered
Scripture alone is our final authority for faith and life. We submit to its teaching, proclaim it faithfully, and seek to live in obedience to it.
Church Community
Christ has called us into His church to worship together, bear one another’s burdens, pursue holiness, and grow together in one faith.
Grace-Driven
We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Everything we are and do flows from God's mercy and the finished work of Jesus Christ.
Gospel and Mission
We proclaim Jesus Christ crucified and risen, evangelise the lost, make disciples, and seek to plant faithful churches.
Generosity
Having received God's grace abundantly, we give cheerfully and sacrificially of our time, resources, and gifts for the good of others and the advancement of the gospel.
Holiness and Integrity
We seek to glorify God in all of life, pursuing holiness, humility, truthfulness, and obedience to His Word through the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.
